Eritrea’s Destiny to be the Nation of First
Eritrea’s Destiny to be the Nation of First
On the first of September
On a day that all Eritreans remember
The heart and soul of a nation was born
On a nation torn
Unwittingly and unwillingly taken
Destined to be forgotten, forsaken
It was an open daylight robbery
Unjust, unlawful legal mockery
Yet, the seed of a nation came to life
With one man, first man to raise arms, a knife
To free a nation, the first free nation not-handed freedom
First nation to fight for freedom, believing on self, self-reliance
First to achieve freedom in defiance
With a motto of self-reliance
Forced the world to accept
The Eritrean concept
That they have a hard time to accept
Yet, forced to accept over and again
In pain, with disdain
As the fierceness takes on Tour De-France, the first
As the child born in defiance defies the odds in China, a first
More glories, more first and glitter wait
In a land full of gold
And, hearts of gold
The heart of the brave
Where every day and every achievement is the first
Testament to the faith and strength of the resilient
Testament to the will, sacrifices and commitment
Testament of the unbreakable bond, one heart
True expression of one people one heart, a first
