YPFDJ-NA 6th Annual Northeast Regional Leadership Retreat

YPFDJ North America Northeast region successfully concluded the Sixth Annual Regional Leadership Training Retreat. Representatives from Boston, Harrisburg, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. chapters attended the retreat, which took place April 4 - 6, 2014 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The retreat focused on consolidating the movement and creating a synergy among all national efforts. The two-day program included various workshops and interactive presentations, which were tailored to equip chapter leaders with the necessary skills to lead their chapters effectively.
Dawit Haile, Head of Organizational and Youth Affairs, Embassy of Eritrea, Washington D.C., in his opening remarks reminded participants of their responsibility to carry their father and forefather's legacies by being conscious and successful citizens. The program, a range of workshops and presentations, included a special presentation by Sophia Tesfamariam, on the critically essential topic, Eritrean identity in the Diaspora. Small group discussions were facilitated by YPFDJ North America Coordinating Committee (NACC) leaders, where all five chapters had the opportunity to review the yearly work plan and put strategies in place to implement the organization's activities. Additional presentations were conducted by fellow YPFDJ members on consciousness (niqhat) and leadership skills, and as the national conference host region, national conference planning was conducted.
During the question and answer sessions, participants asked and debated about Eritrea's current affair issues; housing projects, elections, judiciary matters, youth related challenges, democratic process, global relation and Embassy services.
The YPFDJ-NA Sixth Annual Northeast Regional Leadership Retreat was made possible by the generous support of the Eritrean Community of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This young boys and girls could have ended up westernized with identity crises. I would say, regardless they support the government, their involvement in their mother land is very positive. Don’t forget there are many young girls and boys with lost identity living like tugs in Europe and USA. Personally I met some of these YPFDJ who went back home and spend some time educating young people in schools (some in Asmara and some outside Asmara)
Isaiasmoron( I like the name by theway) What I meant is that if, they grew up in the west there are many positive things that they can learn from western culture, that is if they eat egg, or corn flakes they would expect their people to eat "shahin banin" for breakfast.

ReplyDeleteHow come I dislike Eritrea, again I gave up whole my life and youth to her, what I dislike is " amselu Eritrawian" like "her" which they never knew Eritrea at all.
ReplyDeleteI knew many dispora Eritreans from different part of the world, zegerem iyu..you can generalize that all are concerned about their people, country, tradition, good governance ect..infact i saw a documentary on Eritrea in Focus on Africa, guess TV channel called PressTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kIW7MXYL1g were a journalist from Rwanda was appriciating the Eritreans around the world for their commitment and he state that no african diaspora behave like them..It's to be proud about this no?
ReplyDeleteI am proud the YPFDJ are exercising their right in expressing their opinion. I would be proud also if the government leave the young Eritreans in Eritrea to express their opinion, freedom of movement and freedom of living free under constitution. These are God given right where our the government revoked from our people.
ReplyDeleteI knew many Eritrean youth wich are very concerned about their country, not the government I repeat not the government which is guilty of many crimes in Eritrea.And you don't need no press tv to know the situation of the Eritrean youth, just ask any body on the streets of Asmara or Adi bidel, Keren or Tinkulehas, Massawa or Mai wuui, Teseney or Goluj, Mendefera or Dubaruba, Dekemhare or Tikul......... the will give you the same answer they are living in misery.
ReplyDeleteWhat you're stating it seems to me idea that I use to hear from those who designedly want to destroy Eritrea's SELF RELIENCE MOTTO, bahatsirus tselatena maletey iyu, useless to mention the list..west, their servants, cause simply we don't want to be alligned to their plans. Who are they? Don't we have a history and culture older than they have? What democracy they want teach Us? When we have the culture of that more older than when they were living in the cave's. Their design dear rora is simply to annihilate who challenge them..just come out from that border and see it in global way. So Eritrea's governance toward this philosophy is correct..We'll respect those who come based on fair bilateral interest. Kabzi zetseri intay allo? Anehna kufuat aykonan, kufuat kegebruna deliyom, we know who We are..

I agree about the west irony, of double standard.As i stated before we Eritreans need rule of law, that is what we had before, our forefathers used to have it, but we lost it in the hand of one man who destroyed our values and sold us to the west, by the way of mass exodus.

Probably you are expecting to have heaven on the earth, as President Isayas said, "kab giegana ne errem ina" means that we made experience no? But when you go beyond that he sell to the west our people you're doing a big mistake. It's long to write it here, but i just remember you about some analysts who in recent days wrote about "african economic migrants" which have nothing to do with what you say..It seems also you hate personaly the very PANAFRICAN leader that continent at the moment have, can you mention me 4 like him by now. Ex. go and read an article on the last days in http://www.siliconafrica.com/ then we talk about it..Otherwise passing the line and attack the person of anyone forget his H.E. PIA, is a sign of weakness.
