Swedish top prosecutor investigating 13 Ethiopian government officials

Debretsion Gebremichael (L) and Bereket Simon are implicated in the massacre of 196 Ethiopian protesters in 2005. Although PM Hailemariam Desalegn is the current face of the regime, Deputy PM Debretison is the real ruler of Ethiopia.

Swedish top prosecutor investigating 13 Ethiopian government officials

By ESAT

A top Swedish prosecutor told Swedish Radio that 12 Ethiopian government officials and one other military commander who is based in Sweden are being investigated for executing the killing of innocent people following the 2005 Ethiopian post election violence.

The prosecutor said the charges will be filed as soon as the investigations are completed and the officials could be arrested when travelling anywhere and tried.

Observers say the fact that the Swedish prosecutor began the investigation means that it has paid attention to the issue.

Ethiopians are called to still provide evidences and information by entering the www.ethdfr.com website.

  1. You know when I got on Youtube and search Ethiopian protests, it's astonishing how divided this country has become. TPLF is claiming that it's holding the lid on the situation and if it loses power, hell will break loose. May 2015 election will be something interesting to see. If the outcome becomes the same as 2005, I'm sure arms are going to get picked up... hopefully it not be another 1974 Ethiopian revolution and lives get taken, but, it does not look pretty from what I see. And this is from a guy who never follows politics.

  2. Don't really care for the Ethiopian officials but as an African, the actions taken by these Europeans are outright disrespectful. Who are they to dictate and impose their justice on others? Would they be doing this to the Americans or their European peers? Probably not. Africans need to stop running to their "white saviors" and resolve their own problems internally. Stop being mentally enslaved and take ownership of your own affairs. And people wonder why no one respects Africa.

  7. I second Elsa. Swedish authorities have no sovereignty over actions taken outside their territory. The Swedish may be able to have the said authorities be prosecuted by the the ICC according to the agreements/rules governing these kinds of issues. However, prosecuting officials of other countries has a dangerous precedence and it has to be opposed. If the Swedish have the guts, they should apply pressures on the Ethiopian government through their diplomatic means or through the aid they donate to Ethiopia.

N.B. This does not by any means mean that I condone the actions taken by the Ethiopian authorities. Also, my stand against these authorities in regards to Eritrea remains the same!

  8. You know Elsa what is the problem, when you depend economically from someone, it's finished (you are slave). The only way to be free from this circle is just being oneself free in all senses and not depending for your survival from AID act as the minor junta do.

  9. Elsa, though i totally agree with you, it's time that someone should step in and castigate these weyane beggars...if no one is respecting Africa and its people, it's because of these kind of beggars who tarnished our image and compromised our respect and dignity...in fact i wish that the swedes are so serious...

  10. Sam, What a damn shame!! That 9.4 billon will be spent for nothing then. However, Djibouties are not stupid! They are spending it for their bigger and powerful clients (us and France). They would not spend that much money to gain the business of a client who is standing on a quicksand!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Here is some one with the brain! I said the same thing when this Swedish court was directed against Eritrea last time or even The Hague kangaroo court against Kenyan president and I was fired at by every foul language under the Sun. People, why do Americans and isrealis get exempted from this???? Who are they to decide????

    ReplyDelete
  12. The quicksand was shabian business when they waged war on us just seven years after we died in the same trenches.
There are more complex problems we have with Djibouti. However, they try to solve them together with us. Not insult, invade, kill school children ....... like you.

And for your France and US not Ethio bla bla, what would you say about the economic integration plan and billion dollars fuel pipelines investment?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sam, why are you still crying about it then? You thought, why pay for port service while we can take and own it by force. However, your huge gamble back fired and you decided to lick your wounds in Djibouti. We wish you well. I hope the integration plan works for you, maybe be that way you will forget eritrea and leave us alone.. Hopefully you will leave our land, you would respect the Alger's agreement and we will live separately happy ever after.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't think we will ever leave "your land" :).
We are happy now and things are working well.

    ReplyDelete
  15. what a shameless weyanay? you will see soon how you are going to leave our land...the clock is ticking down and on the zero hour time you will leave not only from our land but from history.(wipe)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sam, yekoten awerdalehu bela, ye'bibitwan talech! Soon you will be confined to Tigray. No one is interested on your happiness!! You will be forced out of our land and you will also be forced out of Welo, begemider, semenShewa etc.. that you called Abay Tigray!! And of course out of power all together.

  17. We heard it all Your empty ZERAF 'Eritrea at'shetm" by your leaders for the last 67 years. Nevertheless, you can only drink milk, honey and ERE in your dreams. In reality what is mine is based on fact and the rule of law. you can only change the rule of law in your wild dream only. To win stay on the side of law

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't find your argument convincing. You know bro, in this world he who has the gold makes the rules and laws. The gold being power in this case. It is by power we are there. If laws run the show, we would have been long gone.
On a personal level, I appreciate your principles!!

  20. Sam, that is the point! We do not need to do anything. It will be done by your people. Let me share one scientific fact with you.

Leave food in a moist warm area. First it will start to harbour bacteria which would cause mild harm to the consumer. Keep it there for few more days and it will harbour much more bacteria and the bacteria would produce more alcohol and acidic by products, which would definetly cause more harm to the consumer. Give it few more days and the food would have fermented more and the bacteria would have produced more acid and alcohol which would dissolve and fnish them off completely. Finally the food is not eatable but it's not harmfull any more. You are the bacteria and you are creating an environment which will finish you off.

  28. Retard.,, ' U' is referring to TPLF. Majority of Amharas and Oromos want to see you gone. That way we can all breath fresh air. And yes, Eritrea is a proud African nation who is and wishs to stay out of Wetern interference. I don't support this Swedish court, even when it is aimed at these evil weyane leaders. Western powers have no mandate to impose their ideas on us.. It's a matter of principle. However, you are a small man who has not forgotten eritrea yet!! Still fixated on Badime and the contested territories. It's called animosity fueled by the lose of Red Sea and Eritrea...it is reality!! Get over it!!!!!

  33. Elsa, why are you crying now? Why now? Didn't this happened to so many African countries and African leaders? Where were you then? I guess some of the accused guys( Aite Bereket, Aite Debretzion..are somehow related to you and this's a double standard that we can't accept. It was fine with when some African leaders ( Charles Taylor, Seseseko, Mubarak, Ghaddafi etc) where, disrespectfully (to them and to other Africa leader/people) brought down and killed or dumped to jail and, the funniest thing, all their wealth, neither their family members or their country have ever used it. You or others didn't say a word....you're fake.
