Yemeni Foreign Minister Lied to CNN about Former President Saleh seeking refugee in Eritrea

Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyadh Yaseen

During a recent interview with CNN correspondent Becky Anderson, Yemen's Foreign Minister Riyadh Yaseen said former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh was in Sana'a and is seeking refugee in Eritrea.

"I think he is in Sana'a and he is trying to escape." said FM Yaseen.

Asked where is Saleh trying to flee, Yaseen replied: "He is trying to get to Eritrea....where he has lots of land".

This 'news' was surprising to say the least. Throughout his rule, Saleh supported various Eritrean Islamic terrorists groups against the Eritrean government, ordered his military to attack Eritrean troops on the Hanish islands and openly sided with arch-foe Ethiopia over its occupation of Eritrean territory.

Furthermore, it's common knowledge that Saleh was seeking refugee in Ethiopia, which has been reported extensively in Western media, including by CNN. According to a report by the MiddleEastMoniter, Ethiopia accepted his request on the condition he does not participate in politics.

So either FM Yaseen is showing a fundamental lack of understanding of the region or he is deliberately trying to inject Eritrea into his country's crises at the behest of Ethiopia. Based on his government's previous actions, the latter seems be the more plausible answer.

On June 23, 2014, Andargachew Tsige, an Ethiopian opposition leader, was detained at Sana’a airport, while travelling from Dubai to Eritrea on his UK passport. He was swiftly handed over to the Ethiopian authorities, where he now faces routine torture and a looming execution.

The Yemeni regime kidnapped Andargachew and handed him over to Ethiopia knowing this would cause unnecessary tension with Eritrea and the United Kingdom. So this latest disinformation of pulling Eritrea into their primitive sectarian squabbles should be seen through the context of appeasing Ethiopia.

  3. Exactly... we'll just call our Russian friends and provide intel on his plane's whereabouts. I'm sure they're watching the region with the scope. Problem solved. No worries. Have a nice day Criminal Nose Network (CNN)!

  5. The purpose of this is to make Sunni Arab governments (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, UAE, Algeria, etc) distance themselves from Eritrea, and make the SEMG link this nonsense with Eritrea, so it can gain legitimacy, at least in name. That's Ethiopia's goal.

Eritrea has no interest in this primitive Sunni-Shia rivalry.

  6. Do Arab leaders have any shame or even the mind to differentiate it from fame? How can this jerk mistake "Ereteria" as he stupidly called it with Ethiopia?

  12. Yemen is surrounded by Sunni countries. For Iran to reach Yemen safely is to use Eritrea. So, for Iran having a base in Eritrea make sense and they planned this a long time ago. Eritrea gave the base hopping the arrangement would reduce Ethiopia's military threat on Eritrea. But Iran got the base and Eritrea caught in the middle since they didn't figure out how that arrangement is going to influence Arab Sunni and Shia relationship.

He can even be a hall of famer at Enda mall. Erty, however, is dazed and confused; it was not a long while ago ethiops were bragging about good neighbourliness with Yemen and et al... And now Ali has a lot of land???? A warning to Egypt perhaps.

  18. What is even more sad is the majority of Sunni and Shia Muslims have no idea the difference between the two sects of Islam. They are basically like football fans supporting their default sect as the "correct" version of Islam.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Erty, Have common sense, will you?
Do you know X-President of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh is a Zaidi Shia? This guy was a president of Yemen for over 32 years and was a friend & puppet of Meles and woyane company. Don't believe this Saudi accusation of Shia/Houthi crap. Ali Abdullah Saleh was in bed with the Saudi during his presidency years. The Saudi just need a puppet, regardless of which sect of Islam the president he belongs.

  47. Believe it or not, ALI Abdullah Saleh, was seen in Addis Ababa a week ago
one diplomat has confirmed. and said this African Union must be removed
from this country some where to S.Africa or else. And I asked him why?
because you don't feel safe, it is the land of corruption and prostitution.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "The land of corruption and prostitution" is Eritrea. Your women are being vioated and raped in the desert trenches and those that escape Issayas' prison state are being raped in the deserts of the Sahara and Sinai. African Union will not leave Addis and Issayas will never be allowed to attend. Because Ethiopia says so. The end.

    ReplyDelete
  49. "Your Russian Friends" ? Russia is not your friend. Your stupid government miscalculated and visited Russian occupied Crimea and allienated the West and Ukraine. Then Russia by-passed Eritrea and reached out to Sudan for stronger relationship. If Russia was to asked to chose between Ethiopia and Eritrea, who do you think Russia will side with? You are as stupid as your visionless government.

    ReplyDelete
  50. You tried to sell your ass to the "fascist united snakes of america" but America opted to side with Ethiopia and now you're crying like a baby. You are bitter about the U.S. because the only Super Power in the world is on Ethiopia's side and not on Eritrea's. Ethiopia is a lot bigger, has a lot more resources and is the regional super power, econimically and militarily. Why would you think the U.S. would find Eritrea more important than Ethiopia? Because it took you 30 years to "win" a war on a land slightly larger than England? That's nothing to be admired about. It is embarrasing.

He wanted to move AU to another country which does not prostetute herself for small Aid. Gadafi was removed because he tried to change the fundamental wrong way of trading row materials with the developed world. Gadafi was removed because he was trying to replace petrodollar with Golddinnar!! I could go on and on and on, but you will not understand it.. You pin head!!!
Is Libya better of now? Is it?? I didn't think so either!! Sahsah Malelit!!

  57. Why the Mirage?

For a country and people who don't understand diplomacy, who don't understand coexistence and disillusioned anything and everything is labeled in the wrong context to create false inner strength and to hidefailure. This is why some Eritreans try to label and use name calling ineach and every conversation, just in case the method works to misinform. There is a problem here, things are measured based on outcome not by bravado. Information is traveling close to speed of light. People verify, clarify, and justify the truth regardless of the informant’s intent to twist and turn actual
    facts.
Begging is acknowledging the other individual's right to give or refuse what is his/her voluntarily. Begging on the street is the only form of asking Eritrean's see, since the country is an island, a closed universe, a prison for all citizen,, for that reason some people frame diplomatic relationship based on need and coexistence in the wrong sense and try to portrait a false image. Egypt just got its 1.5 billion worth of military asset. This is called diplomatic relationship with a string attach. It is a relationship as old as human history between two
countries. I fell sorry you missed it. I am just trying to clarify the
term begging that has been used over and over again by some layman of
Eritrea from SAWA. Sponsoring terrorism, invading neighbors, having
military service forever to robe an individual's earning, Closing all higher
institutions in the country for good to benefit from citizen's ignorance ,
raping and killing own citizens when they try to get away from these miseries
to other countries, all these are taking people's ownership right and robbing
of their life a crime. I rather be a beggar than a bully and a thug enjoying other people's suffering. To make sure this works best, locking up the whole nation
for the simple reason of ruling them under fear and anxiety is the order
of the day in the 21st century of Eritrea . There is no crime in Begging but there is violation of human right and committing crime when you robe, rape rule over people for all their life, and kill citizens for the simple reason of not
getting enough control over them. If this is not worst than anything,
be the judge. Don’t pretend but contend (assert)

    ReplyDelete
  58. As a Foreign Minister of Yemen, at the very least he is expected to know the geography of countries around Yemen. Let alone the politics of the area, this man does not know where Eritrea or Ethiopia or for that matter he does not seem to know where Saudi Arabia is. I think this man thinks Eritrea is somewhere between Iran and Afghanistan.

Trust me, he does not mean to denigrate Eritrea; he is simple uneducated fool who happened to be in a position he does not deserve

If such a people are the one leading Yemen, then it should not come as shock to see where Yemen is at this very moment.

Where did the "North Korea of Africa" phrase come from--it started with the Weyane and others repeated it. So for you, if it is repeated enough times, it must express the true sentiments of those who declare it! It says so much about your independent thinking--your ability to use facts and evidences to make your own conclusions. Instead you regurgitate whatever those who confirm your wishes say as true. It suffices to recall that you cited "RORA" taking his claim as true and indisputable fact regarding one of our recently martyred generals. 80. Being raped is being a victim of violence! It is not prostitution. For a Weyane minded person like you it is prostitution. It is with your kind of uncivilized person we are making a conversation?

Do not forget there are Ethiopian women who are victims of the same kind in the same land you are talking about! There are more who are being victimized in the Arab countries. All you have to say is it is "prostitution"!? Unfortunately your government has been sending your women to maximize foreign currency from remittance instead of the welfare of its people. Remember the Ethiopian woman who escaped the ISIS from Syria. She has told the world, and especially Ethiopians how the Eritrean government is protecting Eritreans. We could also talk about Ethiopian children SOLD for "adoption!"

Do not be the first to throw stones while sitting in a house made of glass! Think Weyanay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. That was not what you said last time. You said you learned about it from "RORA" in your reply at the time. Eritrean opposition? How is that better than citing "RORA?" I would think you would try to investigate about it before you quote cite it!

But please do not claim that you know more than an Eritrean does. It is possible that you could know more than some Eritreans, but not more than Eritreans. Even if you had lived in Eritrea for some time, it is impossible to learn much about Eritrea and Eritreans for an Ethiopian. Whatever you learned would have been one sided and biased. In other words, you would have learned a lot of untruth (mis-learned) about us.

I am sorry that you learned the unworthy to learn from the donkey!

AGAIN NOWHERE DID I SAY I KNOW MORE ABOUT ERITREA THAN ERITREANS;INSTEAD I SAID MORE THAN MAY BE YOU.YOU ARE SAYING THERE IS NO ETHIOPIAN THAT IS INDEPENDENT MINDED TO LEARN ABOUT RTITREA ;THINK AGAIN IT MAY NOT BE ME.THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS ABOUT YOU THAT I ADMIRE,THAT I CAME TO KNOW THRU YOUR POSTS, YOUR BLIND SUPPORT FOR THE REGIME IN ASMARA IS .....FYI MOST I WENT TO VISIT ARE DEAD OR VERY OLD,AND HARDLY REMEMBER SOME OF THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER. 84. Blind support? That is your own judgment, fine! I support Eritrea and respect the blood spent to purchase its independence. No government is ever perfect in all aspects and no government pleases all its citizens. To the extent that there is no other entity that has proved itself able, willing and determined to preserve what thousands have fallen for and the fulfillment of our fathers' and forefathers' wishes I support the Eritrean government without reservation. To the extent that the preservation of the hard won independence is the priority of priorities, I am not willing nor ready to discuss anything else especially in these forums. To your surprise we do discuss other issues amongst ourselves even in the presence of government officials. The only difference is that the questions and suggestions are put forward in a respectful manner.

Regarding my accusation that you quoted "RORA," I apologize. I am the one who connected "two and two" together and arrived at the conclusion. Here is what you said, "YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED THE INDIVIDUAL WHO POSTED SAYING"HE WAS UNDER HOUSE . . . " The next commentator mentioned "RORA" as the originator of the rumor! That is how I arrived at the conclusion that "the individual who posted" means "RORA!" Apart from that I still stand by my view.

Do not talk about death and things or that sort. It is good that you visited your friends. As you have had your own experience to cherish and perhaps to regret (we are all human), you should know that you have your own biases as well. Those biases stand out in your comments. Just my observation!

  85. Really I do not understand Eritrean problem, I know and it is clear Tigrai people are as a race of southern Eritrean.

  86. VERY SENSITIVE....I MEANT DEATH DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES..HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GOVERNMENT.NO ENTITY ABLE AND READY...AGAIN FUNNY..BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY NOT THE ONES IN ETHIOPIA BUT ALL OVER THE WORLD AS THE ONES IN ETHIOPIA ARE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR IDEOLOGY , ENEMIES.IS IT DIA AND HIS LEUTENANTS ,THE ONLY ERITREANS THAT CAN PRESERVE THE HARD WON INDEPENDENCE?EVERY ERITREAN RESPECTS ERITREA AND ITS DEAD FOR INDEPENDENCE ,BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE NATIONS CURRENT STATUS.A NATION ISOLATED, WHOSE PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT IS STATIC, ITS PEOPLE (YOUTH) SCATTERED ALL OVER THE WORLD AND MORE.ALL THIS FOR ONE MAN .HOW LONG CAN ELITES CHEAT THE ERITREAN MASSES BY TELLING THEM ERITREA IS ISAIAS AND ISAIAS IS ERITREA AND WITHOUT HIM ON THE THRONE WOULD BE THE END TO ERITREA.WAKE UP.WHY AM I CONCERNED?...I HAVE SOME STAKES.

  87. jart, jart, jart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was talking about your own death that you mentioned previously! !!! !!!

The rest of your comment is based on your own surely biased understanding of a matter in which you have no (some) steak--as you claim! Eritreans have all their steaks on their country's success!

Go on interpreting Eritrea and its current situation as you wish. Do not forget that (given that you are honest, of course) you are evaluating the situation and taking your stand assuming you were Eritrean. Obviously, you are not nor would you want to be one. You are informed by your limited exposure as an observer and mostly from the point of view of an Ethiopian elite, a section of the Ethiopian population that has been tacitly and explicitly collaborating with their governments in the annexation and prosecution of the war against its movement for independence. You stands are most probably based on the years of propaganda from your governments including the current one--it shows in your posts here! You are claiming to have visited Eritrea several times (whether that is true or not is another matter) and implied that your visits have informed your stand. We can argue about your observations--whether they are colored by your biased opinion or not, including by the opinion of the people you visited.

I am speaking as an Eritrean who has a personal steak (not material, my identity and the welfare of my people) in Eritrean affairs, there is no other Eritrean organization that stands to protect the hard won independence of the country. All others are collaborators of the same entity that is hellbent on destroying it!

I know you do not think so. You have told me in various ways. My stand matters, yours does not--simply because you are not Eritrean! I might add-- you know you have no business in Eritrea's destiny.

For your information, things are changing. Arrogant Western policy makers are watching the fruit of their reckless policies. They have not done anything but worsen situations in our region and elsewhere against themselves. Soon, they will have to learn that they cannot destroy Eritrea for Ethiopia's sake. They will have to jerk the string attached to their (and your) friends the Weyane.

  88. SO YOU THINK I HAVE SOME (NO ) STAKE BECAUSE I AM AN AMHARA? YOU ONCE SAID ,REGARDING PIA; "IT IS THE LOYALITY AND DEDICATION...NOT WHERE OR WHO YOU ARE"....DONT YOU SEE INCONSISTENCY?CONTRADICTION ? YOU STILL THINK MY JUDGEMENT IS BIASED AND IS BASED ON GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA.YOU STILL THINK THAT NOBODY OTHER THAN ERITREANS KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT ERITREA; YOU STILL DOUBT THE FACT THAT I SAID I VISITED MY FRIENDS IN ASMARA.WELL GASHA ;I HAVE A SOMALI FRIEND, WE STLL ARE FRIENDS THOUGH WE LIVE VERY FAR APART.HE ONCE GAVE ME THE HOLLY KORAN TO READ AND I READ IT MORE THAN ONCE.SOMEWHERE IT SAYS" DONT ARGUE ON ....JUST SAY YOURS IS YOURS ;MINE IS MINE" THUS I CONCLUDE THIS DISCUSSION BY SAYING YOURS IS YOURS , MINE IS MINE.....JUMBO!!!!!.

  90. Mr. Jart, my favorite amhara saying is "AyT mSkir Dmbeet" I don't know what the latter is but i have always equate it with kangaroo; that might be the court but your @@@@@@HRW is best served by your master's proverb. In deed, you had pulled out a Dmbeet out of your tall hat. Ethiopia is crying and bleeding to be free from the evils of woyane; wouldn't you rise to the occasion and answer her plea. Your country is saying rescue me!
