Bisha plant remains on-track for re-start later this week: Nevsun

By Nevsun

VANCOUVER, March 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Nevsun Resources Ltd. (NSU) (nyse mkt:NSU) (Nevsun or the Company) reports that the repairs to the mechanical issue with the ball mill, previously reported on March 13, 2015, are ongoing and the Bisha plant remains on-track for re-start later this week.  While there was an act of vandalism at the Bisha plant late last week, there was no significant impact to operations and no personnel were harmed.

The equipment supplier Thyssen-Krupp AG, who had mobilized to site, have nearly completed replacement of the ball mill gear box bearings and re-installation of the gearbox is imminent. During the outage, some additional preventative plant maintenance that was scheduled for Q2 2015 was accelerated and ore mining was switched to waste mining to facilitate ongoing strip requirements.

The Bisha Mine experienced an act of vandalism on March 20 during the nightshift in which minor damages were sustained to the base of the tailings thickener, resulting in the release of water into the plant area. The required repairs and cleanup from the incident were minor and are incorporated into the plant re-start later this week. Additional safeguards have been adopted to ensure site and personnel safety and security while the Eritrean and mine security forces undertake an investigation.

  2. Dream on Wedi Mai Telamit. Dream on. The latest news coming you way, straight from Bisha Reads:

"In a post made to their Facebook page, Eritrean band Asser dismissed rumors by the so-called Eritrean opposition that Ethiopian fighter jets had bombed the Bisha mining site early Friday morning.

"Nothing happened in Bisha. The rumors are white lies. We had been there again this weekend." said the band.

"Similarly, a phone call made to Bisha by the entertainment website, Eritrea-Chat, found everything was business as usual at the mine.

"I have called today the 22nd March 2015 to bisha and they say its all ok and the mining company is still producing as ordinary."

"Rumors of Ethiopia attacking the Bisha mine started with Sallina, a little known Ethiopia-based opposition website that seeks to reverse Eritrea's independence."

The fact that Weyane military camp was destroyed by Ethiopians last week, to hide this news, they have to come with the outlandish news. Then again that is what you call 24 hour shelf .s

  3. Okay, I hope those Eritreans who may think that a soft approach to Weyane and other Eritrea haters is the way to go for peaceful coexistence, learn no further than this. They told you in no unmistakable terms that their dream is nothing short of the DESTRUCTION of the "Lucrative" Bisha mine/ If that is not ሓሳዳት፡ I am waiting to find what is?

  4. Usually it's extremely unwise to give any weight to what those people say. Buy they should be allowed to to weave some tall tales since it provides us a glimpse to their mind-set. But why would be surprised when they act like this- discrediting themselves at every opportunity they get. Deep down though I sense their extreme fear- all this noise is to demonstrate to Ethiopians how tough they are. You see how pathetic they are!

As far as any Eritrean is concerned, there shouldn't be any surprise to what their intent is. Aren't those the same people who dug our martyrs from their eternal resting place?

  5. Eritreans should not be surprised if the TPLF regime takes a desperate suicidal action such as bombing Bisha or targeting other economic targets in Eritrea. Desperate times require desperate measures and a cornered beast will fight tooth to nail for its very survival.
All Eritreans need to kwon is that this is the end game for these beggars and there are millions of Ethiopians who are ready to devour these mercenary beggars.

  6. Tigray Hasadat. Eritrea lives off its own resources. The only way Agame know how to live is by begging internationally and stealing and looting. Hasadat Agame!

  7. The company that own 60% of resource from canada. if the wayane attacked this plant, they have to deal financially with the canada company. Eritra is not responsible for the sabotage by the wayane. The wayane should know that. Eritrea can attack the Rensance Dam in the near future and we will know who would loose big time. The wayane should worry about this instead of attacking a small company that has few advantages to the economy of Eritrea.

  10. You r right! Besides that their attempt to destroy the Hirgigo electric power in Massawa, the cotton modern machine destruction, the attempt they made to hit the Enda Korea building are few examples other than looting Eritreans property from all over Ethiopia. I am wondering on one hand the world has become so small and information is easily transmitted so as technology at its peak and some of us are benefiting and enjoying it. Why not we think of the poor society i.e particularly the children and the youth to show them the good path and help tthem to breath clean air. On the other hand the poverty level and the killing disease in Africa has not yet improved so Instead of trying to avoid war and tackle poverty why destruction? Enough is enough! No need of 'elehe'. It is good to think wise and struggle for the betterment of our people. Let The Almighty help them to see and think positive.

  11. kkkkk mr. sawa do you know where Ethiopian Great Renaissance Dam found? I think you don't have any information. Let me tell you where this dam found... it is over 1500 KM far from Eritrean boarder. so how can you hope to destroy this great dam. Anyways you can hope every dream but Ethiopian Air Force can control all part of Eritrea where as Eritrea Air Force can't control all part of Eritrea. For instance before a few years Ethiopian air force with MIG jet fighter and antonov plane destroyed Sawa and Eritrean Air ports do you remember that?

  13. Just for your information. Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan signed an agreement in Khartoum yesterday on the GERD. I see that you havn't posted that positive news as of yet, but did rush to post the France24 story about the so-called halting of construction on the dam site (gee I wonder why that is). A good day for Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan, but a bad day for people who wish ill on Ethiopia.

  14. 1500 km is not that far if Eritrea wants to do a big inflict to the Wayane. Is it worth it to destroy the economy of the country for hating the wayane? no. but we africans do not think about the people we only here to plant the hate between us. The wayane has ill feeling about the people of Eritrea. They will do anything to break the unity of the people. I believe the wayane have succeed breaking the unity of Eritreans the last few years but the people of Eritrea do understand the motive of the Wayane now. We have learned the enemy of the people of Eritrea is Wayane and the ruling party of Higdaf. We the people of Eritrea will take care of these soon and Eritrea will be a good example to All of the continent of Africa. keep this in your mind within 5 years you will see what Eritrea can do. The problems we have know is just temporary.

  15. Bisha is intact! Truth will come out soon. When I hear Wayne's phantom claims, the great Winston Churchill's famous quotation come to my mind.
1 - "In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies."
2 -"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."

  16. Lier,
You never came near Sawa let alone destroy it! You might be a good dreamer!
1500 Kms? Are you sure you are counting correctly? Addis Ababa - Asmara 1080 Kms by road! Your dam is about 700 Kms away!

  18. Where did you get your information? .... From Woyane (x-Derg) Pilot Bezabeh?
Did you know Shaebia had to change Colonel Bezabeh's Diaper twice!!
That's why Woyane outsourced Ethiopian Air-farce jobs to Ukrainian Pilots.
    .
Ukraine Air force are in no position to help Woyane, as they are busy fighting the Russians.

  21. The Bisha gold mine for sure hit by Ethiopia. If it was not hit the Eritrean government would have taken journalist to the site and showed to the public the status of the mine. This is a big incident to be ignored if the news was fabrication. The Eritrean(PI-se) people would ask the government to retaliate if the news is true and the damage is severe which the government of Eritrea has no interest to face Ethiopia at this moment. It is very surprising a single stamen was not issued about the incident and no private organization or press has any kind of picture about the Bisha gold mine states after the bombing incident rumor is circulated. Eritrean ,tv tesfa news, and madot could have been flocked to the site if everything was ok to show the news is a lie but it is not. It is all about damage control.

The Eritrean government should come out and issue an statement to its people and local and international investors. If the rumor lingers with out a statement people start to believe the incident happened which put some restrains on foreign investors to invest in Eritrea. If the bombing happens what measure are in place by the Eritrean government to protect present and future investors asset. Somehow the government should give guarantee for investors their investment in Eritrea is save and sound.

  23. Will you shut up! Losten to yourself. what type of analysis is this? From dedebit department of political studies? ask yourself since whe is the weyane shy of telling the world that the took measure against Eritrea? the answer is never! Even if the news is true, why would the Eritrean gov. would issue a statement and who would beleive tigraion"space" in any case? the incident is passed and gone true or not true. Interms of mining confidence there are more than 20 companies operating in Eritrea and gues what? there is also another gold mine due for production this year. and potash next year..good news huh? I bet that will keep you all night but please don't loose sleep you just worry about your Ethiopia.

  26. My question is what is going to be the reaction of the Eritrean government. This is the second time Eritrea was attacked by Ethiopia without any sort of response. Is the Eritrean military afraid of Ethiopia. How can you talk about destroying a damn, when you can't even defend your own land?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I bet you are really wishing this story to be true? Let me tell you why Eritrea didn't waste any time to disprove the alleged bombing.

First, there was not a single aircraft that crossed the border. Second, the minimal damage that was done was actually done by some low life Weyane recruits. The damage is so small it is not even worth mentioning.

Third, Eritrea has not got time to trade accusations with a gang who lies for living.

If you remember, about 3 years ago they made similar claims. They claimed to have entered 16km inside Eritrean territory and destroyed military camps....Again Eritrea decided to keep silent about it, in fact, one official said, "i have no comment on that let the once who lived tell the tale" Silence kills weyane.

Poor sods, you still are crying over the lost hardware with the defectors.

Again try a matchstick rocket it is both fun and entertaining! BTW Bisha is only open and what is not is, all of Eritrea is AU and more.... sleep tight you bed bug you! I would have called you FERSI but then again your response will be but "I am a woyane stooge." FARSI is for Persian.
