President Isaias of Eritrea Won’t Be missing Much

By Bereket Kidane,

The West has always treated African leaders like children. They always talk down to them. They don’t show them the respect that is shown to heads of state from other parts of the world.  In keeping with past practice of slights and departure from protocol, the Obama Whitehouse announced this weekend that every African leader that has received an invite for the White House Summit will be tested for the Ebola Virus without exception. How demeaning and disrespectful is that?

Some have written about the fact that President Isaias was not on the invite list.  It looks like he has already been vindicated before the summit even started. Why would any self-respecting leader subject himself and his country to that kind of disrespect?

He would not have come anyway had he been invited. He would have politely said “No Thank you” as he did to the Europe-Africa Summit that was held in Brussels this past April.  Part of the reason the West disapproves of Eritrea and its leader is because Eritrea refuses to be dictated to and insists on being treated as an equal partner when it comes to issues of development assistance, foreign investment as well as political matters.  It goes without saying that foreign aid is anything but altruistic in nature.  The thinking in Western capitals is, “How dare Eritrea tries to be different!  How dare she!” Of course, African countries are not allowed to think for themselves.

According to US News and World Report, the Obama Whitehouse has already announced that it is going to break protocol tradition and not allow the African leaders a one-on-one meeting with the President.  African leaders are asking what the point of their trip is then. In another break with protocol, the White House is telling African ambassadors that there will not be a final document after the summit is over. The fact that the summit is held on President Obama’s birthday has led many critics to believe that this is more of a legacy program for the president than a working meeting with real results.

He is following a strict "white-Mans" rule that all Africans look and think the same, except Mugabe, Bashir and Afeworki. Thank you US/Obama for the well deserved recognition of our dear revolutionary leader H.E. Isaias Afeworki.

  23. You need to learn the History of United Snakes of America:
The worst country in the world which abuses the basic human rights of its won citizens.
How many people do have accesses for health care services and education in USA? How many people are imprisoned in Gautama prison? and other prion in USA? Do the black people have the same right as the white? Where are the Red Indians and other Native citizens?
Please I advice you to read the black history of USA.

PIA is a hero leader in Africa, he is not a servant of the USA and other countries. PIA is serving for Eritrea and people, while other African countries leaders are serving other foreign countries interest.
    Long Live to PIA!

  25. Europe-Africa Summit and US-Africa summit is nothing and fruitless summit. It is a summit between the slave and the owner. It is a summit between a boss and employee...... Those bunch of African dictators should focus in creating a democratic society, fight corruption, attract African investors, bring back African intellectuals and educated invividuals who are working for US and Europe...... Be it AlBeshir, or Mugabe or Hailemariam or Issayas all are dictators who has no concern for their people.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess you need to read some more information about political science so u can have some understanding of what I said! Eritrea is a member of the UN and it's from planet earth. .. so I think Eritrea shouldn't be isolated from any international summit. . That means her foreign policy n diplomacy is week. We live in competitive globalized world. .. Every morning the world becoming smaller and smaller. . Think about future , have strong diplomatic approach.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Benjamin,
This isn't diplomacy though. Some trips are not worth making. It's not worth to come all the way to Washington so you can have your picture taken at the White House. There is very little substance happening at this meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Let me tell you guys,
The summit is all about those three who refuse to kneel down for America and the main cooker of the trip is weizero Ethiopia:) BigBrother trust one and only slave of slaves and are ready to take any precondition the USA bring on bord. Because USA is worried that the Chinese push into African markets on full gear, so this summit is all about African resources vs those who pay some coins (as aid) for self inflicted wars throughout the continent. The REAL MEN OF AFRICA are not invited because they never bow their head for 'ishi getaye' like others.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with writer about this particular event regarding the White House Summit and how degrading the event is to the so called African leaders. However, it was not known before hand this is how it is going to be turned out such as the need to screen the dictators for Ebola and so on. Therefore it seems to me about the saying of the monkey who could not reach the apple tree. President Isaias today is isolated has no friends except Omar Albeshir, the man shunned by the international community. With all of these though many others and I very much hope this man may one day make a U-turn and be a good man and listen to the Eritrean people grievance, free all prisoners, free the economy, fire the old guards, abolish the 2%,Abolish sawa slavery, compensate the victims, Follow the constitution and unite the country. Can he do that? May be I'm living in an illusion.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Journo:
You and the rest of the regime supporters are being untruthful. You all talking about there is no need or benefit of the summit therefore it's all dandy that PIA won't be missing much.....Give me a break, let's get to the bottom line of it, HE IS NOT INVITED.

If he was invited you think he would have declined the invitation because he won't benefit from the summit?

    ReplyDelete
  33. You just mad you daddy didn't get invited. That is a slap in the face and deal with it. The US has no tolerance with dictators like Assias.

Another slap in the face, Swedish denies entry to Eritrea government official.

If you say eritrea has become fearful it means it is shitting in her pants, it is very scared of emama Ethiopia. But I don't think you are trying to say that. Anyhow, I am just lost at your assertion about how eritrea has become proud and respected. Respected by who, ....and who is being proud of Eritrea when you hundreds of thousands of its youth fleeing it like it is a piece of shit country. Only the elderly and the underage children are staying behind, otherwise the young and physically able citizens are trekking out it in different directions. How can one claim to be proud when you have over 250,000 eritrean refugee in Sudan, over 100,000 in Ethiopia alone, over 65,000 in Israel......forget about the number of refugees in kenya, uganda, south africa, south sudan, Libya, Italy, all over Europe. I have lost count of how many.....but surely out of the 4 milllion eritreans 1.5 million are scattered all over the world like dust. Tell me if this is a sign of any pride dear. Is that how pride is defined in the dictionary of HIGDEF???

Why don’t you talk about the devastated Eritrean economy?

Your mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters are leaving your beloved country and yet you are still siding with the cause of their exodus. Remember, history will honor those who sided with his or her people, not with hideous dictators.

  47. I think Eri Lion meant "feared" or "fearsome." Probably a typo on his part.
Big power goes out of its way to punish Eritrea at the United Nations because it fears that Eritrean-style independent geo-political thinking will catch-on in Africa and then there won't be a role for the big powers to play African countries against each other and carve out a mediating role for themselves.
So yes Eritrea is feared by the West.

Ethiopia at 96 mil can payroll a mil under trained anf fearful militias and that is why i said again and again

  65. My brother Forto...no doubt you are a very intelligent and conscientious person. But you seem to be still struggling to come to terms with how failed Eritrea is. By the way did you read my last poem I scribbled for you in another forum, hoping it would enlighten you how beyond failed Eritrea has been? In case you didn't I have re-posted it here to give you a glimpse of what the Eritrea of today looks like. Here you go!

    You sound larger than life,
....................... a man of great conscience
When you said u don't dwell
    .........................on insignificant skirmishes.
    Only to be taken aback
    .........................by your lack of wisdom
To regard the yesterday Eritreans in Ethiopia
    .........................as refugees by the million
    They were neither refugees
    .........................nor seekers of asylum
    For they were enjoying life
    .........................with Ethiopians in tandem
    But the eritreans of today
    .........................that are sheltering in Ethiopia
    who are leading abject life
    ........................although better than in eritrya
    They are only refugees
    .......................and seekers of sanctuary
    who run away from home
    .......................to break loose from misery
They are not regarded as citizens
    ........................Nor can they enjoy equality
    For they refused it before
...................thinking they were better and mighty.
Only to be surprised by the
    ...................Burden of their freedom.
Knowing not what to do with it
..................they only wish it was abandoned.
    So my brother Forto
    ..................a graduate from sawa
    I hope you understand now
    ..................how failed is Eritrya.

  66. As if one slap is not enough for the leaders of emama eritrea, it is coming in droves from every direction to confound them beyond belief ....what have they done to deserve all these?? The "Lion" of Nakfa, who has already gone teeth-less and frail has been treated like old camel indeed. No one needs him!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. It sounds reminiscent of what the Italians did to Eritreans before. The Eritreans taught, fed, trained the Italians when they first landed in Eritrya...but alas the fascist Italians forgot all the favors they enjoyed from eritreans and later picked arms to subjugate them and oppress them beyond belief. Isn't it??
The "brave" eriteans are always the teachers, the pioneers of technology, bravery and excellence in every aspect. The "brave" eritreans even trained the Arabs and The turkish who once ventured in eritrea who learned a lot from eriteans only to turn their backs on them eventually. Isn't that true???? oh yes!!
Coming to the truth of the matter, no one denies about 12 students from tigray were trained in Eritrea by Shabia or Jebha when they first launched the armed struggle. But the woyanes were progressing exponentially in might and tactic in a very short span of time to the extent of wiping the then Jebha in a matter of days which the coward shabia couldn't do it, but instead were cornered in the jungles of sahal fearing the onslaught of the mighty Jebha and had to call on the woyanes to do the dirty job for them. You see! The brave woyanes were already mightier than your coward shabia in the early 80th. So who do you think has put who in power?? The brave woyanes had already freed the entireTigray from the grip of the brutal Derg in 1887....while shabia was still buried in the caves of sahal. Shabia has always remained like junior school teacher who is doomed to train only fresh comers and kids.....while the kids are excelling in their education and become Doctors, professors, Engineers and scientists. Can you imagine the junior school teacher boasting he is better than the professors and the doctors whom he once trained in their formative yerars??? Shabia is just like that. The brave woyanes are leading Africa in General and East Africa in Particular ..while you know where Shabia is in the annals of history. Sounds familiar....ya?

Shabias are however a group of crooks by choice who unabashedly think they are superhuman and better than all Africans. Just because they had the privilege to train 12 of the former woyane militants had wrongly made them think they had the upper-hand to make or break them beyond repair. That inflated ego had prompted them to make a grave miscalculation in pulling the first trigger against the brave woyanes in Bademe.....what happend next was a history you very well know.

I am just wondering how the "naturally miserable woyanes" are sheltering more than 100,000 eritreans with more than half of them being ex-combatants of shabia. What an irony!!!

  87. most of the comments i see is of opportunists who say they love iseyas and they also say they love eritrea(in second place naturally). indeed your are Hasewti Lekabit of first order. If you really love Iseyas or you really love PFDJ GO BACK TO ERITREA and do what ever wedi berad tells you to do. bragging about how much you love Eritrea and hate the western powers while enjoying life of the western world is opportunism at best and ultimate swindle.

  91. are sure you are average Eritrean ? we don't have Jimmy in average Eritrean names... :D
but aside from that, if you were average Eritrean you would be sweating under the sun digging in some part of Eritrea. Instead I see you in the internet commenting nonsense 24/7.
Probably in terms of intelligence you are lower than the average Eritrean, while on the social aspect you might be average Eritrean living in the diaspora with low IQ,
people like you, can't wait to spend the hard-work-earned few hundreds dollars back in Asmara Intercon vacation These people want to show they have made it by living in the western countries.
I have seen so many of your kind... yes you will allways bless iseyas, he is keeping the nation under dire poverty so that people like you can feel proud of them selves, Keep it up bless Isu wedi berad, he will make you feel greater than you really are :D Gumama

They do not have the courage to do so. They simply talk but when you come to the point they try to avoid it, only support blindly.
