FIFA World Cup 2022: Eritrea’s Red Sea Camels host Namibia

By ENFFOnline

The Red Sea Camels of Eritrea will this afternoon host Namibia in the first leg encounter of the preliminary round in the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Top international action returns to Asmara after Eritrea last hosted Botswana in 2015 in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“This is a very big game for us and we must work hard to make sure we get good results in-front of our fans before the return leg,” said Eritrea’s head coach Efrem Alemseghed.

The team will look to the likes of Ali Sulieman and Mubarek Kelifa to find the goals, while Robel Kidane and Yohannes Ezana do the donkey work.

But Namibia’s interim coach Bobby Samaria has also made it clear the Brave Warriors to play their hearts out.

“The players are in high spirit and eager to go out to represent our country to the best of their ability.” He said he spoit for choice as competition for numbers is high. “All we need to do is to find the right balance with respect to the composition of the team,” he added.

The coach made it clear that the FIFA rankings against the two sides will not determine anything, but the form of the day.

Samaria made it clear that Peter Shalulile will be the captain, while Willy Stephanus is the deputy.

The winner between Eritrea and Namibia over two legs will advance to the group stage where they will be drawn in with the 26 top-ranked countries given a bye into the second round.
