Eritrea: 150 million cubic meter dam is completed

Built by Eritrean engineers and financed by internal resources, the 150 million cubic meter construction of Kerkebet Dam has been completed and is ready for operation.
Located at Kerkebet subzone, Anseba region, 10 thousand of the 50 thousand hectares of land has already been levelled and is ready for cultivation through irrigation from the dam.
Sugar cane has already been cultivated as a pilot project in Kerkebet for a sugar factory in the area.
Modern generators of 16 megawatt have already been put in place and thus there would be no shortage of power supply to the surrounding agriculture areas.
