U.S. Embassy in Asmara hosted “Celebrate the Diversity of Eritrea” art contest

The new American Cultural Center won’t open officially until October, but over 100 Eritrean artists, art lovers, diplomats and friends of the American Center attended an informal get-together, yesterday, to view original artworks created by local Eritrean artists for the “Celebrate the Diversity of Eritrea” contest. The winning submission will be used on a U.S. Embassy sponsored coffee mug celebrating Eritrea’s remarkable ethnic, religious, cultural, and geographic diversity. All of the artists who submitted paintings or drawings for the contest will be given prizes of art supplies.
