The Eritrean Hearing And Visually Impaired ( EHVI) is a non--profit organization which was established on January 13, 2015 by a group of concerned Eritreans including the target population from USA, Canada and Europe. It is the sole legally recognized organization by the State of Georgia,  and the State of Eritrea.  It was announced to Eritrean public around the globe via its web site (ehvi.net) launched at a time when the seminar was in progress during the Eritrean Summer Festival held in Oakland from August 14th-16th, 2015. It was  conducted simultaneously in English, Tigrigna and Sign language, the first time in the annals of physically challenged Eritreans. Ato Birhane Ghebrehiwet, the Charge' d' Affair of the Embassy of the State of Eritrea to the USA, and Professor Tadesse Mahri, the Executive Director of Eritrea's National Commission for higher education were among the delegates who delivered a lengthy speeches highlighting their impressions and support of the organization whose establishment dramatized by the announcement of "Disability Act"  in the State of Eritrea. This historic legal provision geared to  safeguarding the rights and privileges of physically-challenged Eritreans is one of the major achievements of Eritrea. In short,  it is a mark of civilized society  that takes care of its citizens in an age of narcissism and negligence of human race.

More information on  missions, activities and the need for societal and public involvements can be found by visiting the official web site cited above.

In the meantime, please see it that SOCIETAL DISABILITY AWARENESS is the first and foremost goal of EHVI without which a down-to earth supportive and rehabilitative programs can not be realized at all costs. With this mind, I would like to share with you the outline of the seminar that I prepared on behalf of EHVI during the festive week in Oakland which is virtually the Mecca of the deaf Eritreans in the Diaspora.
