Arise Mother Africa, learn from your daughter Eritrea!

Scream of an African
Daniel Wedi Korbaria

Arise Mother Africa, since your nightmares are irreversible.

Get up you have other guests to receive. They have come to heal you, saying you are suffering from a contagious disease and lacking human rights vitamin. Mother Africa, they say that you have become inhuman. More than being the most malnourished continent in the world - where hunger kills more than all other diseases - they also say terrorism is too devouring you with metastases of evil rapidly spreading everywhere.

The experts claim that your problems are not so easy to solve, that more time and more "volunteers" will be needed. Mother Africa, the guests that have been in your soil for decades intend on continue staying and multiply.

You do not have to fear Mother Africa; they will never leave you alone as they immensely care for you!
They cannot lose you because without you they would not exist, they would be nothing, without you they would have to return home and queue for a job.

Trust Mother Africa, the total freedom of movement they demand would only work to help you better. They want to decide your economic development, your priorities and your future. And whenever a son of yours was to hazard a few laws to limit their actions surely they will resort to power to ‘adjust injustice’ threatening the imminent arrival of a crisis or an epidemic, forcing international agencies to declare that such laws would be inadequate and compromising the development of Africa.

Arise Mother Africa!

It is not clear why despite the years your problems only seem to aggravate.

What happened to the promises of eradicating poverty, curing the sick and disadvantaged, put an end to war and promote prosperity? Do you now realize that a kilo of flour and a pound of gold might not value the same?

Look around Mother Africa, your malnourished children of yesterday are still dying of hunger today and who gets fat are those dirty buzzing flies. The root-causes of the many fratricidal wars have never been resolved, but instead, encouraged to proliferate through more weapons that certainly were not been produced by Africans!

They say that you breed and hide terrorists, but they omit being their allies. And the "war on terror" is ensuring the extended military control over spread territories overseas above and beyond national borders.

You have not escaped Mother Africa, as it seems like your land will be the place of future wars, as many suggest.

And after every massacre or ethnic-religious based conflict you will be expected to bring stability through the intervention of international relief agencies. The same people who sold weapons to your children, and brought about the dangerous strategy of divide and rule amongst your people. And for you there will never be peace unless another route is taken!

Arise Mother Africa and look around! You have too often become a place where your children are not protected; all the vulnerable that continue to suffer from the cycle of poverty, violence and death are demanding justice.

Mother, it is time to stop the curse, bury the barbarity and put an end to your suffering. It is time for you to act! It is time you care for your children, as their future lies in your hands, only you can save them.

Do you still believe in the good intentions of foreign referees in your land? Do you still believe that by taking refugees under their tent they genuinely care for their well-being?

Don’t you think that instead they have been trying to imprison you for life? Don’t you think that by opening the door to your heart, your soul has been stolen?

Arise Mother Africa, they did not come here to help!

The ones you consider benefactors are the same predators, abusers and pirates that are exploiting you. Free yourself from the shackles of colonialism and stop begging for aid. Wealth never begs!

Mother Africa learn from those who first broke the chains of slavery, ask your daughter Eritrea, the one that seceded from what seemed a dark and hopeless tunnel.

Yes, Eritrea the one that over and over again believed in its own self-reliance renouncing to the "gift" of aid. It is through its own efforts only that Eritrea continues to build roads, bridges, dams, schools and clinics aware that the "humanitarian aid" has only deepened the cycle of dependency and corruption for many African beneficiaries. The only way to be free is through real economic empowerment and independence.

Freedom and pride, dear Mother Africa, are values for which Eritrea had to sacrifice a high price.

Of course humanitarian organizations acknowledge that the philosophy of self-sufficiency would be their end and for this reason they demonize and accuse Eritrea of all sorts of crimes and abuses. The same country that was actually born from a struggle for human rights - to conquer its very first right to exist and be recognized - while every power on Earth seemed to ignore Eritrea and its people. Many strategies have been put in place; occupation, accusations of terrorism, UN sanctions, among others.

Despite the obstacles, however, they will never see Eritrea kneeling down to them – instead, Eritrea has become a model of courage, ideals and commitment to its people.

The youth are lured out the country with the promise of a more comfortable life abroad and continue to die in the desert and at sea.

But the truth is hard to die and Eritreans, who still believe in the idea of Awet n'Hafash (Victory to the Masses), never give up and continue to defend that land inherited from the martyrs who fought and defeated the largest African army of their times.

Arise Mother Africa, learn from your daughter Eritrea!

There is no other way than putting the daughters and sons of Africa first. It will be hard, but worth the trouble. After all, you have no choice, or else you will continue to suffer from exploitation, knowing that your future will only be worse than your past.

Even despite the corruption and sinister politics, today’s generations can still make a difference. Today all Africans must begin that path of independence, and that journey only begins with each one of us.

Mother Africa, stay away from corruption and fight misery through hard work, pride, development and morality.

Only then Mother Africa these exploiters will be gone and the dirty buzzing flies will disappear. Your children will happily play benefiting from education and all that will enhance their future at the horizon! Your wealth will finally serve your people! Refugee camps will be empty and all that will be left is going to be the rustle of plastic tents under the wind of change.

May Peace be with you Mother Africa. So, Arise!

  6. What a penetrating, educational, and enlightening article! If it is not the contents of article that sent me into deep thoughts; it is his writing style, the choice of words, and presentation that mesmerized or captivated me.

Indeed, it is time for the Africans to head to Eritrea to learn how to build a nation brick by brick. And the anchor at the center of the Eritrean "can do" spirit is the Eritrean mother, the dove and the tigress all bundled to one.

    Thanks for such enlightening article

  8. I don't have problem what ever views he has for his continent, probably I concur his ideas, but I totally oppose his demonizing of my nation Ethiopia, Hagere Qidest, symbol of Anti Colonialism, freedom and proud of black history and source of humanity (eg. Lucy fossil), mother of blue nile and semien mountains and Dankal depression, mother of Abebe Bikila, Emperor Tewodros etc...
Oh Ethiopia, you kill me in love

  9. You see i was right that you didn't get the point when the author say: "seceded from what seemed a dark and hopeless tunnel", he intend the tunnel of AID dependency and continuous begging, nothing have to do with Ethiopia.
True the story about A. Bikila and E. Tewodros, what about now? Are you still proud of what the sellers are doing to your proud nation and people? What you're selling as leas to right and left, in a couple of decade you'll see the consequence of that..You're no longer owner of that Ethiopia of which once you were proud. Foreigners might say so. what land. Weyane is selling it to the minor bidder.

  10. At this moment in Oromia, there is monument symbolizing the breast of Oromo mother that was cut off by the Amhara Neftegna. Could you say something to that effect; we Eritreans sure like to know more about this and much more crimes against the Oromo by the Amhara Neftegna in the early 20th Century. Never forget, that monument is the monument about an Oromo mother, which is an African mother!

  11. No and no; he gets the point. What was written was also about him and his type. He is one of those who are trying to bury the truth about crimes an atrocities committed by the Ahmara Neftegna to Oromo people in particular.

The truth for example, at this moment in Oromia, there is monument symbolizing the breast of Oromo mother that was cut off by the Amhara Neftegna. Could he accept it and say something to that effect. In addition to crimes committed by Ethiopia over Eritreans, we Eritreans sure like to know more about this and much more crimes against the Oromo by the Amhara Neftegna in the early 20th Century. To our shock, he is trying to make us and the world forget that monument is the monument about an Oromo mother, which is an African mother!

Only when a UN monitoring group (SEMG) pressured the regime, it folded and provided financial information to the international community that it never presented to its own people.

Learn from your daughter Eritrea how not to run a country mother Africa. There are many of your daughters that have similar problems with regimes destroying her (Zimbabwe, Gabon, Ethiopia, Angola, Equatorial Guinea etc.). Still there are plenty of your daughters that are doing well and can serve as an example (Botswana, South Africa, Senegal etc.). he ato jonathan, you may have a few points here but why dont you mention the milenium goals eritrea makes positive. why dont you mentions the malaria reductions and the hiv reductions from the ministry of health. you must also mention those points. africa can learn from eritrea for that points right. how many country in africa have hiv infection percent of 0.55. very few have those percents. in south africa many, many people have hive infections. especially the blacks in south africa. they are many rapists in that country and the blacks there have no discipline. they can learn very much from Eritrea do you understand.

Action comes from belief, all the enemity of Shabos (not all Eritreans) comes from the ideology of some evil individuals like the headless AssyASS. From AssyASS teenage till now the people of Ethiopia and Eritrea are bleeding each other (or hate each other to the level of enmity) and at this time of his alzimer age, this dying animal is trying to continue the status-co and some young ERKUS shabos try to inherit this evildoer action.
That is why you hate my nation to this limit but our existence, security, peace and development is not on your hand it is in our will and determination, Jealousy will take you no where.

  28. "You Eritreans want to know" about the crimes in Ethiopia? Who died and made the Tigrignya keepers of Africa?? Why don't you learn to wipe your own asses before pretending to be a symbol of hope for the rest of Africa? Why don't you want to know more about Issayas' tourture chambers and prisons where an estimated 10,000 Kunamas, Sahos, Afars, Naras, Tigres, Bejas, Bilens and Rashidas are suffering in? The hopeless Tigrignyas cannot be the symbol of hope. This article is just an other tragic anicdote spun to glue back together the broken and shattered hope and dreams of the Tigrignays. THESE ARE THE FACTS. Eritrea is a prison state whose sons and daughters would risk their lives to leave. Eritrea is a country where not even the semblance of democracy exists, no free press, no freedom of speech or gathering. No constitution. Infact the Tigrignya terrorist Issayas has so little respect for you worthless አንበጣዎች, he has come out and stated arrogantly and publicly that there will not be any elections or constitution in Eritrea. Over 250,000 Tigrinyas, Tigres, Afars, Kunamas, Sahos, Naras, Bilens, Rashidas, Bejas chose to live in squalid refugee camps in Sudan and Ethiopia rather than exist under the yoke of Issayas and his Thugocracy. And you call yourselves the hope of Africa?? Seriously? The more you open your stupid mouths the more Africa and the world laughs at you louder. Furthermore, you are not self sufficient. That is a bold lie! You get assistance from Europe and not to mention the 2% "tax" you extort from Tigrignya refugees who have fled Eritrea. Your government raises its finances from "Successful Seminars" and "Festivals" that it holds all over Europe and North America. Your Tigrignya ambassador in Canada was unceremoniously kicked out of the country for his illegal activities of extorting money from Tigrignya refugees in Canada. While we're at it how about the nearly $800 million that was recently discovered in the secret accounts of Tigrignyas at the Swiss bank HSBC??? Who's money is that? The poor Tigres, Afars, Kunamas, Sahos, Naras, Bilens, Rashidas, Bejas will never see a penny of it, that's for sure!! It belongs to the Tigrignya Thugocracy that is ruling Eritrea with an iron feast. Idiots!

  30. Eritrea, the land of "social justice", the land of MAHBERWI FITHI where "equality, fratertning, liberty" is applied in its best and finest. Go ahead and see for your self, Unlike the accursed land Ethiopia, every Eritrean, irrespective of race, creed, or gender is beneficiary of what Eritrea has to offer. Especially to those Eritrans who were left behind by the colonizers in the past, Eritrea gives additional attentions to bring them up to the standards of others. That is equality and that is social justice.

Sorry, do not take my word for it just head to Eritrea and see for your self. By the way, can you believe me if I tell there is not single Eritrean police officer, patrolling the streets of Asmara and other Eritreans towns at any time of the day.

Here is a country where her people are not allow to make a living any where in Ethiopia. Here is an Oromo people from Oromia Kilel could not go to Amhara Kilil to make a living and vise-a-versa. Here is the Ethiopia whose children are scattered in African Safari like wild animals. Here a country whose children are reduced to drug addiction, prostitution, homosexuality, and alcoholism. Here is country whose capital city has won the trophy as the "prostitution capital of the world".

Perhaps the saddest aspect of Ethiopia is, here is a country which has been set to be the next Yugoslavia and yet you are doing nothing to stop it.

And you think Eritrea is jealous of Ethiopia!!!!! These and much more Ethiopian curse is something you could never find a single person in the world, let alone Eritreans, to be "jealous" about the accursed land, Ethiopia.

  40. Whether I was born in Asmara, Dogali, or in the caves of Nakfa is irrelevent. Your people are dying and you cannot bring yourself to realize that your dream of a prosperous Eritrea has died. It has been nearly a quarter of a century since the EPLF marched into Asmara and effectively took control of Eritrea. Yet, here we are, a quarter of a century later, we have an Eritrea that is a prison state, dirt poor, living on forced hand-outs in the guise of the 2% diaspora tax. An Eritrea who has no friends. Has bitten everyone all of her neighbors and her children are dying by the thousands in far off foreign lands and seas in the most horrid ways. Yet you sit here alternating between throwing insults at me and praising Issayas and an imaginary prosperous Eritrea. Before you end up in an assylum from depression or commit suicide, seek help. Insulting me or questioning my pedigree does not help you or anyone else for that matter. Seek help. You and the likes of you need therapy to come to grips with reality. The sooner you get better the sooner you will be able to galvanize an Eritrean society that will unite as one and help its unfortunate fellow country men. Ethiopia is gone. Ethiopia does not mention Eritrea in any shape or form. Yes there was a time when Ethiopians cherished and aspired in getting back Assab. But the reality is after nearly 20 nears of disuse, Assab is an irrelevent port. It cannot compete with the likes of Djibouti, Tadjoura, Port Sudan, Mombasa, Berbera and the soon to be built Lamu on the Kenyan coast. Assab and Massawa whose only natural market is Ethiopia cannot compete with these other highly advanced and cost effective ports. Even if Ethiopia were to get back Assab, it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade it to meet Ethiopia's economy that is to become a middle income economy within 10 years. Why would Ethiopia spend such amount of money when it can get reliable, efficient and cost effective port services elsewhere? You see, Eritrea and Assab are both irrelevant to Ethiopia. Think about it. Help yourself, help your fellow Eritreans and Help your country by first getting medical help.

  42. Tell me frankly, to use you words, can Ethiopia "get reliable, efficient and cost effective port services elsewhere"? Tell me from where? Are you talking from Mombasa Kenya, or Hargesa Somalia, and/or Port Sudan. For sure Ethiopia has looked at these options but it was to no avail.

Oh sorry I forgot, you are getting port services from the Drug (Chat) addicted port of Djibouti. How can I forget, here is Ethiopia paying $5.25 (dollars) per ton to Djibouti and where as you were only paying 1.25 Birr per ton to Eritrea. As a result, here is Ethiopia paying 575,000,000 dollars to Djibouti. (Please convert $5.25 dollars to
Birr to grasp what I am trying to say)

For that kind of port usage fee, the question is for what kind of port services. Do not forget, each day and every day, from 11 AM to 4 PM, from the President of Djibouti, to Djibouti port employees, to house wive they are gone to chew Chat (Ethiopians choice of drug). During this time period, Djibouti is in another world and the Ethiopian import/export goods are left to rot in the 120 degrees. If that is what you want, go ahead continue as Eritrea cares

By the way, let me tell you one secrete. Chat chewing, the drug of choice of Ethiopia, is a taboo in the Eritreans society and that is why the Eritrean port employees are productive 24 hours a day. And that is the truth and please try to swallow the truth if you can.

One more statement before you go. I sure like how Djibouti are playing the cards right by taking Ethiopia for a ride in broad daylight.

right? It kills you to see the biggest dam being built in Ethiopia while
Egypt opposes first and then reluctantly agrees. It kills you to see

whereas Erifailing Railways is still using the 100 year old steam

Airlines passing Royal Air Maroc, Egypt Air, Kenya Airways and yes South
African Airways to become the biggest airline in Africa while

leased airplanes and doesn't even have a website. It kills you to see
Bole International Airport handling more and more passengers and the
Ethiopian government planning to build a new airport that can
accommodate more than 70 million passengers a year making Addis the
biggest hub in Africa, while Asmara international airport is no more
than a tiny, regional airport handling a few planes a week. It kills you
inside seeing Ethiopia expanding economic relations with Sudan,
Djibouti, Kenya and even Rwanda and Uganda whereas Eritrea is not even
part of IGAD and is seen as the regional spoiler and has bad relations
with two of it's three neighbors.

  45. Porco! i have said it before and i will say it again nostalgia and cynicism; and if you had trouble understanding it then,,,just look it up., i also had called you a snake who thinks( in your case believes) has legs,,,,,this too look it up!
you and your junior, if indeed believe that Erians are jealous envious hateful and last but not least slaves; who is to call you by your name-Gebre! a typical traits of deki mai telameet!

If indeed is your fear that Eritrea will make you pay for all that you have wronged her; yes you will! so what is it to do now you may say? at least for the time being enjoy blabbering in this open forum but do not stress yourselves by trying so hard as if you care about Erians- we know you well enough its not even worth pretending.

Try caring about the 96 million "Ethiops" who are living on a half-a-dollar a day. That should be a first order of things rather than losing sleep over Eritrea.

  46. Djibouti's port services are functioning fine. What kind of import/export activities are going on in Assab for you to label the Assab port "efficient"? Massawa and Assab get any economic activity if only Ethiopia uses them. Otherwise, it is food and medicine aid from the west that gets unloaded at the ports, nothing else. Eritrea does not have the economic means for trade with other nations. Eritrea does not have products to export to the world outside of what Nevsun mining company exports for itself. If Ethiopia choses not to use Assab and Massawa, then the two ports are dead in the water. I don't know where you're getting your information on the inefficiency of Djibouti port. You may or may not know this or you may have omitted it for the convenience of your hallucination, but the port of Djibouti is not run by locals. It is under contract by the Dubai port authority. So your wishful thinking that Djibouti port is not is efficient is just that... wishful thinking. Also, if only the tragic Eritrean people could get their hands on chat... it would ease the pain of the prison state they live in. How are the Eritrean port employees productive 24 hours a day? What are they doing?

  49. Porco! Truth is not just a five letter word, but who am I to try to straighten your distorted understanding the real world in general and tge reality of Eritrea.
Eritrea is a state on its own- in all sense of the term. But your AiGAmot is just a crap in even bigger crap i.e. your umbrella ethiop.
You have said one thing though; yes Sawa is Eritrean and when ever I feel at home, here too I am at home; I can't say the same for you.
You had said you were in Eri in the 70s and that is why I said nostalgia borders cynicism for those good-old-tdar-begde-days are dead and buried; by the way we have built beautiful villas ovet your fellow criminals remain. Villagio is filled with mansions; just the truth!
