United States Welcomes the Release of Six Journalists in Eritrea

By US State Department

The United States welcomes reports of six journalists released on bail in Eritrea. We note with deep concern that the government continues to detain other journalists, reportedly as many as 17.

We encourage the government to take immediate steps to release these additional detainees, all persons detained on the basis of their religious beliefs, members of the G-15, and all other political prisoners.

The United States continues to urge that the Government of the State of Eritrea take comprehensive steps to respect human rights and avail its citizens of their fundamental freedoms.

  1. Where is the 'deep concern' for the entire people of Eritrea who are by proxy suffering at the hand of the US State Department?

  2. Where is your concern for your fellow Eritreans who are suffering under the savage regime? You want to blame others for what the criminal tyrants are doing to the Eritrean people? The human rights abuses are being perpetrated by the criminals in Asmara against the Eritrean people.

  8. Let the experts do the investigation. Your tyrants are too scared to let them in since the experts will see the extent of the human rights violations. Besides, I don't want to end-up in one of those gulags.

  12. Mengestiab read and learn from what John researched and posted below, you can learn one or two things from it. Those people you posted above are not human rights defenders or protectors, they are just advancing their careers at the expense of our peoples suffering. Since when do the U.N or U.S concerned about our people well being, you must be delusional or flat out traitor.
