I don't Like the Eritrean People, I don't! - Helen Kesete

Photo: Helen Kesete - We blurred out a lot of the curse words she wrote in her own picture towards the Eritrean government and people. Keep in mind, Helen is a 35-year-old mother from Sweden that dresses and behaves like a teenage boy in grade school.

I don't Like the Eritrean People, I don't! - Helen Kesete

"This is my first time after seven years in Asmara and...I mean... this my country... I have to like it but I don't like the people, I don't!" Said Helen Kesete, a vocal leader of Smerrrr, an Ethiopian created "opposition" group that seeks to reverse Eritrea's independence.

Even by the so-called Eritrean "opposition" standards, Helen's infamous quote is considered embarrassing. After all, Helen claims she is an activist who is fighting to bring change to the Government of Eritrea, but if she hates her country and people then who is she fighting for? Ethiopia?

It seems Helen never understood the very basic principle of political activism, which is first to love or respect the people you are trying to help. Unfortunately, she thinks she owns a monopoly on wisdom and assumes disrespecting the very people she professes to be fighting for is acceptable behavior. Perhaps she learned this from TPLF's founder, Sebhat Negga, who infamously labeled his Tigrayan constituents of Enderta as "professional beggars".

But its not just Helen's hatred for Eritrea and Eritreans that rubs people the wrong way, her vulgar language and disrespectful attitude annoys them too. She regularly refers to Eritreans as "monkeys", "ugly", "idiots" and other obnoxious names that are too inappropriate to repeat. It seems in her mind, anyone who doesn't support her political views (unification with Ethiopia, a failed state) deserves to be verbally assaulted.

In the grand scheme of things, Helen isn't important. But what we can learn from this unstable individual is there are Eritreans out there that are in collaboration with Ethiopia for the sole purpose of harming Eritrea and its people. Their pretext is always democracy, even though these people refuse to see the hypocrisy in working with the ruthless Ethiopian dictatorship. But then again, that was probably in their contract with the Ethiopian regime, so they're just doing their job.

  18. Yes, I just heard this song. Maybe her parents were too hard on her and spend to little time taking care of her in a loving and culturally enhancing way, maybe the were out of wack with the modern world and she grew a hate and anger. But monkey?...She knows better about Eritreans. I bet this is on purpose to kill our ER pride that Ethio and US hate about us. Just like their stuff in mount Sinai and Isreal to humilate us so we could grow grudge and give up. Man they hate us so much!!.....Our ways and nature threatens them, so they have to bark and use these stuff. Cockroaches don't know fair play and square, that's why they come out in the dark.

  19. Helen is suffering from self-hated. She has the misfortune to have been born from abusive parents who belittled her and prevented her from developing a healthy self-esteem. Therefor, the people of Eritrea couldn't expect any love from Helen until she recovers from her illness.

But I also advice my Eritrean folks not to give even less credit and follow her cheap stances calling her names the way she does, as it's not our Eritrean culuture. 32. In deffence of a Chicken

In the first place,as readers, we are not presented with an evidence. Under what context is such a thing as **I hate Eritrea** is said by the above individual. Much more interesting would have been under what
circumstances did she say that, in what context?

Everything we are reading here is a Smear Campaign directed at an individual. Please present us with evidences, and the cotext under which it was said or written.

But one can say, the inverse is also true. If we hat when somebody hates us, then we are Haters ourselves.

If a person (for many commentators an unstable person) says she hates
Eritrea for some reason. Then the whole crowd of bogos Eritreans hate
her back. Just mob her with out seeing her say so :) and that makes
the goons true … clean … Eritreans :)

    Why she hates it?

Suppose, she hates the term Eritrea because she believes Eritrea is a false entity, a pipe dream, a phenomena, a virtual thing that does not
exist on the ground, a nothingnnes … which at the end will be nothing but for all reasons something els. That many a brave soul died, many a brave soul fought for ... to see at the end ... it belongs only to one person and to the few advantaged who are fiercely protecting their interests.

No one can have hard time infering out, why she could have hated Eritrea. Forexample, may be she thinks for the Term itself is a badge of
disgrace, that she does not want to tag for her identity. For that is
a Colonial Term. Would one in her/his real pride take a name given
    to him by his ex-master?

But she knows her reasons, I would not put words into her mouth.

So appreciating both motives the one from haters and the haters of
haters nothing brings me to hate you.

But am not going as low as you, because I chose to think formyself, there is no doubt in me and I am not worshiping a Mermaid called Er*****.

Character assassination as it best, do i support what she said? Of course not, but taking to the account to her age when she said that it makes it less serious (my guess is that she was probably 16 to 18 at that time). What amuses me is that people who have nothing to say when people who were part of Derg being put in leading position in the current government are complaining about what this girl said for long time ago. Or what about a pure Tigraway (Hagos Kisha) is the one controlling our economy fully, only he knows the country income. Don´t tell me he is not corrupt, he probably knows when real Eritreans take back the country he will be the first one to be kicked out, and as 100% Tigraway as he is he knows this well and it would´t surprise me if he has several offshore account full of dollars.

  40. What kind of bull is this?! This video is completely out of context. She was probably in her teens when this documentary was made. Also other youth in this documentary made similar comments noting the difference they saw in the Eritrean society regarding manners and behavior to that of European society where they were living in!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would like to tell you that I ain't defending brother Hagos Kisha because I know him he has the ability to defend himself and his country. You are obsessed with Hagos Kisha country of origion. Let me tell you, as Yacob I believe if anybody involved in the liberation and builiding of Eritrea whether he is Kambata or Hadiya he is Eritrean. See for example, General Tela Ouqbit, Qeshi Dimetros, Tela Bairu and his son, Abdela Idris etc... are 100% Eritreans, however the damage inflicted to the Eritrean people is beyond belief. In contemporary Eritrea instead of labeling citizens 50% or 100% Eritrean, we must roll up our sleeves and contribute to the nation building.

He is not peeping in Madote. But for you guys even America is Weyane George W. Buch, Jandaya Freezer, Susan E.Rice and what have you ... are all Weyanes; funny and entertaining. It a kind of phobia or may be is it a Motto. ** Everything and Everyone who differs in ideas with you is a Weyane! ** did Wedi afom say that.

  45. Why is this video clip of yours relevant to the article mentioned abovee???????? There is like no link!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hehe, but we already married within the squameteres of the red sea state deep love, John!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I posted it. Because, I strongly advise Madote to post something like this instead of a garbage. There are a lot of exemplery clips and or stories to post rather than a nonsense like Helen's.

    ReplyDelete
  48. True, that's what I also felt in the beginning that this was so unnesessary. But then I google the girl in the article, and then I got it. It's all done unpurpose to create negative havoc in our dreams. So it does have a major information effect reading about it here, as to know what methods are used to "destroy". I am no longer offended by her comment, now I just laugh out loud!

But agree, madote does post things that I'd consider a bit under the belt..... Like for instance the origins of tigrigna or we have a ressive gene etc. etc. Eritrea in it's position in the always at all times very busy Red Sea, is no different than those countries in the world that have always been crossroads. I don't know what kind political point they're trying to make by the posts I critised here. It's like my grandmother in Asmara who after being so tired of Eri TV prefers Ethiopian TV, because she thinks ERit TV is just dance and propoganda music. She feels the youth must learn the deep high level i(n terms of purity and cleasiness) that our grandmothers and fathers know - not just cheap, bad, and convinient dance music. So she chose to watch ethiopian TV because at least they have something religious there. Other wise, she thinks Addis is dirty and is a diehard Eritrean like most people. But it should said that our culture is getting lighter in weight the way Madote is presenting some stuff and in terms how they chose subjects to write about, that goes the same with TV ERE. I only listen to Abraham Afewerki, Sami Berhan (the old songs til 97), Baria, and the old old old songs. But I know some great artists out there. But overall, even in times of unsual hardship - it's is correct to critisize...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Pardon my English, I wrote it while I had to run....but you get the point. And I'm not particularly religous, and I am not sayin that madote and TV ere should be religous. No, they're are originaly none religous. But still the depth and wisdom that are carried by our grandmothers and grandfathers was always heavy, I even cross off my mother who just turned 50, because eventhough she's so very smart and wise - she doesn't come close. Why? Because of wars etc etc. WE are independent now. So the media have the power to keep the wisedom of that particular culture alive in much much much better way than is done today, not matter the circumstances. In times of hardship, you should show bigger wisdom. That's actually the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Damn if she dresses up like teenage boys and ugly as hell, she is definitely on crack. We should not pay attention to her.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I am shamed Madote went this much low to discredit someone who is seeking a democratic Eritrea.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Regardless of ones stand in politics, one(s/he) can never present any kind of excuse to claim his people bad/ugly or hate his country and people all together. Madote: I think you gave unnecessary attention to her dirty speech and an elaborate statement on her vulgar words. I don't think she is worth all the analysis you made. Well, she is exposing herself that she is not a true Eritrean national or descent but rather a bearer of an identity that isn't fit for ERITREA. If she is telling us that she opposing PFDJ, such an opposition is stupid and sorry for using *stupid* as a language to describe it. I, personally, am for change in Eritrean governance, call me an opposition member if you like, and I can't figure out any circumstance to make such statements anywhere let alone in a media outlet, if it was in some media outlet.

    ReplyDelete
  58. How is Madote discrediting her? And how do you justify your assertion that she is "seeking a democratic Eritrea"? You may not agree with how the GoE functions, but do you really think this "thing" can construct a valid point, let alone lead a "movement" for change? Based on everything you have seen or heard about her, do you seriously believe she has the capacity to do so? Please advise.
